It is with heavy heart I’m writing this obituary.

My husband of 36 years, Wlodzimierz "Wally" Baumac passed away on May 9, 2026. He leaves behind myself and a large group of friends here in the US and in Europe.

He had always been a generous person, loved having fun, joking and laughing with friends, and especially playing UNO with our friends’ children (he almost always let them win). He helped others in any way he could, free translation for Polish speaking people at their various appointments, volunteering as Polish interpreter for Cook County Hospital, walking neighbors’ dog when they were away… He loved all creatures great and small, he loved people and had infinite patience with small children.

The quote from sympathy card I got from our friends tells it all: “So sorry for your loss. We will always cherish the good memories we had with you and Wally. Is it a sad day for us.”

It is even sadder day for me.
