Sebastiano Picciuca, 83, of Chicago, passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 8, 2025. He was the loving dad to Joseph John Casey Picciuca (Dawn Rejzek), Harmony Ann Picciuca (Fred Hickler), and Jeremy Sebastian Picciuca (Amber Rich); caring grandpa to Simon Sebastiano Hickler; fond uncle to Anthony and Paul Cinquegrani, Mark, Duncan, (the late Diana) Logan, Laura, Jennifer, Charlotte, and Joseph Picciuca; cherished brother-in-law to Diane Picciuca. Sebastiano was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Frances Picciuca, and siblings Carmella, Rose Marie, and Joseph.
Sebastiano's life was marked by his deep commitment to connecting with others, creating lasting bonds, and fostering community wherever he went. His friendship transcended generations and seasons, with a heart that embraced individuals from all walks of life.
For many years, Sebastiano was a constant presence at the Portage Park Senior Center, where he touched the lives of countless individuals. He had an extraordinary ability to forge new friendships, never shying away from a conversation and always eager to welcome new faces. Whether it was over a cup of coffee, a game of cards, or a shared memory, Sebastiano's warmth and compassion were felt by everyone who knew him.
What truly set Sebastiano apart was his gift for maintaining these connections over the years. His friendships weren't fleeting; they were lifelong. Some of his closest bonds stretched back to his childhood, with friendships that began when he was just 5 years old. Through the ups and downs of life, Sebastiano kept in touch with his friends, always reaching out and reminding them how much they meant to him. His loyalty was unwavering, and his presence in the lives of his friends and loved ones will be profoundly missed.
Sebastiano's legacy is one of connection, kindness, and a life well-lived with those he cherished.
A visitation will be held Sunday, April 13, 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., Funeral Service will be Monday, April 14, 10:00 a.m., at The Elms Funeral Home, 7600 W Grand Ave., Elmwood Park. Interment to be held privately at a later date, at St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove.
