Marjorie L. Sanger (née Truppo), age 84, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026.

Marjorie was the beloved wife of John Sanger for 64 wonderful years, and a devoted mother to Debra Sanger Clause (Frank) and her late son, Robert Sanger; sister of James Truppo (Irene).

Marge will be fondly remembered for her years working at Kirk’s dime store in the Elmwood Park Circle, as well as for her active involvement in the community and her children’s schools. She had a special talent for decorating and took great joy in celebrating the holidays—especially Easter and Christmas, which she made extra beautiful for everyone around her.

Her greatest love was music. Marjorie found deep happiness playing the organ and piano for church services, weddings, women’s luncheons, and simply for the joy of playing. Music was truly part of who she was.

Marge was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church & School in River Forest, where she reenergized the Greeter Ministry to a whole new level—a ministry that remains strong today.  Marge and John faithfully attended worship every Sunday until it became too difficult for Marge to leave the house, after which they continued to participate by watching services on YouTube.

Above all, Marge will be remembered for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and loving spirit, which touched all who knew her.

A Memorial Visitation was held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church 7300 Division Street, River Forest, IL 60305 from 9:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service began at 11:00 a.m. A recording of the service can be seen below, or by visiting the Grace Lutheran Church YouTube Channel.  In lieu of flowers, a donation in Marjorie's name to Grace Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
