IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maria E.
Velez
February 7, 1944 – February 25, 2024
Maria "Esther" Velez, 80, longtime resident of Chicago, and proud Puerto Rico native, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2024. Beloved wife of Julio for over 52 years; adoring mother of Miriam Velez, Jasmin (Alex) Acevedo, Leslie (Jason) Martinez; proud Wela of Gilbert "Gil", Jacquelyn "Jackie", Jocelyn, Aiden, Jacob; fond sister to ten surviving siblings in Puerto Rico; admired aunt to many and dear friend to even more.
She is preceded in death by three siblings, and her parents.
"She is the best cook in the world" -Anyone who was lucky enough to have a meal prepared by her.
Maria was the family Matriarch, and even when she was busy outside in the garden tending to her garden, she would always welcome company if you sought advice and wisdom. Family was her life, but her grandchildren were the true light of her life. She will be missed dearly by all.
