With deep sorrow and profound love, we announce the passing of Maria de Lourdes Campos, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Born in Guayama, Puerto Rico on February 11, 1941, Maria was the daughter of Alejo Campos Vega and Alfonsa Colón Lebrón, and one of seven siblings raised in Barrio Puente de Jobos.
Maria was a proud graduate of Rafael López Landrón High School in Guayama, Puerto Rico.
In the 1980s, she moved to Salinas, PR, where she shared her culinary talents working as a cook at El Roble and Don Andres restaurants. Her passion for cooking was legendary—her yellow rice with pigeon peas and slow-roasted pork brought joy to countless family gatherings, leaving lasting memories for generations.
In 1998, Maria relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she found love and companionship with José Garcia. Her warmth and humor built strong friendships across Milwaukee and Chicago, where her daughter Marilyn lived. Maria's home was a haven of laughter, love, and delicious food, always open to family and friends.
Maria was the mother of Edwin, Ferdinand, Eric, Marilyn, Sonia, Lucy, and Junito, and the proud grandmother of 27 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through them, in their hearts and traditions.
She was a woman of strength, faith, and resilience—always identifying herself as a powerful protector of her family, with a radiant sense of humor and unwavering Christian faith.
Maria is lovingly remembered by her siblings Junior, Lidia, Elba, and Aida, and by all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who continue to carry her spirit forward.
Her life was a testament to love, family, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed and forever celebrated.

Con profundo dolor y profundo amor, anunciamos el fallecimiento de María de Lourdes Campos, una querida madre, abuela, bisabuela, hermana y amiga. Nacida en Guayama, Puerto Rico, el 11 de febrero de 1941, María era la hija de Alejo Campos Vega y Alfonsa Colón Lebrón, y una de las siete hermanas criadas en el Barrio Puente de Jobos.
María se graduo de la Escuela Secundaria Rafael López Landrón en Guayama, Puerto Rico.
En la década de 1980, se mudó a Salinas, PR, donde compartió su talento culinario trabajando como cocinera en los restaurantes El Roble y Don Andres. Su pasión por la cocina era legendaria: su arroz con gandules y pernil trajo alegría a innumerables reuniones familiares, dejando recuerdos duraderos para generaciones.
En 1998, María se mudó a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, donde encontró el amor y la compañía con José García. Su calidez y humor construyeron fuertes amistades en Milwaukee y Chicago, donde vivía su hija Marilyn. La casa de María era un refugio de risas, amor y comida deliciosa, siempre abierta a familiares y amigos.
María, madre de Edwin, Ferdinand, Eric, Marilyn, Sonia, Lucy y Junito, y la orgullosa abuela de 27 nietos y 24 bisnietos. Su legado vive a traves de ellos, en sus corazones y tradiciones.
Era una mujer de fuerza, fe y resistencia, siempre identificándose a sí misma como una poderosa protectora de su familia, con un radiante sentido del humor y una fe cristiana.
María es recordada con amor por sus hermanos Junior, Lidia, Elba y Aida, y por todos sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos que continúan llevando su espíritu hacia adelante.
Su vida fue un testimonio de amor, familia y perseverancia. La echaremos mucho de menos y la celebraremos para siempre.
