Luis A. Vidal, 64, of Chicago, IL, passed away on December 7, 2021, in Chicago, IL. Luis was born in Puerto Rico on January 17, 1957.
He was the loving son of Blanca and the late Luis Vidal; b eloved brother of José H. Reyes-Padró and cherished uncle of José Reyes, José E. Reyes-Robles, Greachen D. Reyes-Díaz, and Nashaly Reyes-Díaz; b eloved brother of Lisandra Rivera-Padró and cherished uncle of Elisandra Dávila-Rivera, Jennifer Dávila-Rivera, Juan S. Dávila-Rivera, and Isaías Dávila-Rivera; b eloved brother of Marisol Rivera-Padró and cherished uncle of César A. Colón-Rivera, Jessenia Colón-Rivera, and the late Johnatan Colón-Rivera; b eloved brother of the late Daisy Rivera-Padró and cherished uncle of Luis Rivera-Rivera, Jorge L. Rivera-Rivera, Dailú Rivera-Rivera, Diomar Rivera-Rivera, and Amarilys Rivera-Rivera; d evoted dad of his two little chihuahuas, Creamy and Lala; and d evoted friend of so many individuals near and far.
Luis graduated from the University of Puerto Rico. He worked as a chemistry professor at Harold Washington College, City Colleges of Chicago.
Luis was the life of the party. His home was a frequent gathering spot for family and friends alike. Luis' huge presence, his charisma, radiant smile, outgoing personality, caring ways, giving nature, kind-heartedness, helpfulness, independence, and intelligence were the gifts he gave to others. Luis' hardworking, selfless, generous, and compassionate ways were an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him. Luis was calm, cool, peaceful, mindful, respectful, and trustworthy. He loved unconditionally. He valued family and friendships. He loved God.
He was a dog lover, loved being Puerto Rican ('Weeepaa!'), loved culture, and loved eating! Luis also loved to dance; he was a tremendo salsero! His love for dancing and culture led him to dance with the Puerto Rican folkloric dance group Yucayeque for several years. Luis also enjoyed traveling. He traveled all around the world. Luis lived life to the fullest.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 12, at The Elms Funeral Home at 7600 W. Grand Ave., Elmwood Park, IL 60707 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with celebration of life to begin at 4:00 p.m.
Luis will be interred in the future with his loving grandparents in Puerto Rico.
