Obituary

Lisa Ann (Mossman) L'Abbate, formerly of Godfrey Illinois, died on April 30, 2012 following a courageous 8 month struggle with lung cancer. Lisa was born in Granite City, Illinois on February 26, 1964 to parents, Duane and Yvonne (Weigel) Mossman. She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Evelyn and Frank Mossman and maternal grandparents William and Beulah Weigel. She is survived by her parents, husband, Vitangelo L'Abbate, four children, Philip Yatvin 22, Allison Yatvin 21, Luciano L'Abbate 10, and Francesco L'Abbate 8, stepdaughter, Mary L'Abbate, sister, Lori (John) Wakefield of Birmingham, Alabama, and nephews Patrick, Michael and Collin McMahon. Lisa attended St. Ambrose grade school and graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 1982. She received a BS degree from University of Illinois and spent her adult life living and working in Chicago. For the past 10 years she was the Office Manager for the Center of Brain and Spine Surgery, Neurosurgery Center in Park Ridge, IL.  She was dearly loved by the neurosurgeons she assisted. Lisa was an active member of St. Celestine's Catholic Parish and School in Elmwood Park, Illinois. She also was an active member of Autism Speaks, and was a Strong advocate for her 2 autistic children. She touched the lives of all who knew her. She will never be forgotten by her many friends and family. Visitation Wednesday, May 2nd,  5 to 8 p.m.  Funeral prayers, Thursday, 9:15 a.m. from The Elms Funeral Home 7600 W. Grand Ave. (north on 76th Ave.) Elmwood Park to St. Celestine Church for Mass of Chrisitian Burial 10 a.m. A second visitation will be at Gent Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL, Friday, May 4 from 5-8pm and a funeral Mass Saturday, May 5 at 10am followed by burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Godfrey, IL.  In lieu of flowers, donation in Lisa's name to Autism Speaks,http://www.autismspeaks.org/ , American Cancer Society http://www.cancer.org/index or St. Celestine School, 3017 North 77th Avenue Elmwood Park, IL 60707 would be appreciated.  For information 708-453-1234
