IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lawrence S.
Domagala
August 13, 1938 – April 14, 2025
Lawrence S. Domagala, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025. Beloved husband of 51 wonderful years to the late Donna M. (née Obermeyer). Loving father of Peter S. (Christine) Domagala and Karen A. (Vincent) Cozzi. Cherished grandfather of Brianna (Daniel) Checco, Jessica, Nicholas, Kyle, Vinnie, and Nicky. Proud great-grandfather of Elena "Peanut." Dear brother of the late Gerald (the late Carol) Domagala and brother-in-law of the late Iris (Ronald) Karas. A dearest uncle, loyal friend, kind neighbor and "Papa Larry" to many.
Larry was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a dedicated employee of Ryerson Steel. He found great joy in life's simple pleasures—fishing, trying his luck at the casino (especially in Las Vegas), and enjoying cocktails in the yard with loved ones. But above all, he never missed a sporting event of his grandkids—he was their biggest fan and their loudest cheerleader. His favorite title of all was "Papa."
Larry lived a life rooted in love—for family, for friends, and for even the smallest moments of joy. With a gentle spirit and a warm smile, he had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether through a thoughtful gesture, a listening ear, or a few words of encouragement, he brought comfort and light to others without ever asking for anything in return.
Lawrence believed in the power of kindness and practiced it every day. He gave generously of his time and heart, always putting others first and ready to help without hesitation. Needless to say, it's impossible to count the number of lives he has touched—but each is better for having known him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and quiet strength that touched the lives of all who knew him.
He cherished his time at the Sportsman's Club in Wilmington, dinners at D'Agostino's, and his monthly gatherings with lifelong friends—traditions that brought him immense joy and connection throughout the years.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at St. Celestine Church, 3020 N. 76th Court, Elmwood Park, IL 60707, from 9 a.m. until the Funeral Mass begins at 10 a.m. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the Mass and Papa Larry wouldn't want you to miss it. Interment will take place at a later date at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's name to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation or the National Breast Cancer Foundation would be deeply appreciated.
We ask that you honor Lawrence's memory by performing a small act of kindness—something that would have made him smile.
