Obituary

Kevin Scott Seibel, age 63, passed away suddenly on August 13, 2024. Known for his zest for life and his ability to bring joy to those around him, Kevin made a lasting impact on everyone he met.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Seibel, who was his rock and his greatest love. Kevin also leaves behind his cherished parents, Willie and Lois, and his brothers, Kurt, Kent (Xuan-Mai), Kyle (Crystal), and Karl (Danielle). He was the loving brother-in-law of Debra and Steve Green, Bill and Diane Lowe, Patti Kuzniar and Jerry Pitts, Bob and Nancy Lowe, and Karen Mlynarczyk. He was the world's best uncle to Jennifer (Kevin) Kolb, Samantha (Adam) Foodman, Kenny Kuzniar, Matt (Deborah) Lowe, Chris (Kelly) Simms, Lisa (Bob) Bujak, Greg (Stephanie) Lowe, Brian (Veronica) Lowe, Dan (Anne) Lowe, Melanie (Josh) Cahill, Michael Mlynarczyk (Julia), Ian Lowe (Taylor), Kyle Mlynarczyk, Kristopher Seibel, Kourtney Seibel, Kaleb Seibel, Karden Seibel, Kyle Seibel Jr, Joel Teczon, Maloree Teczon, Karli Seibel, and Hailey Seibel. He was also a great uncle and dear cousin to many. Kevin was preceded in death by his loving grandmother Gram Bs, in-laws Jerry and Arlene Lowe, and his brother-in-law Ed Kuzniar.

Raised in South Dakota, Kevin excelled on the field and in the classroom. His hard work and talent led him to the University of Nebraska, where he was a gifted kicker known for his accuracy and power. Kevin started and lettered for all four years as a Cornhusker, kicking in two Big 8 championship games and contributing to the team's victory in the 1984 Orange Bowl. After college, he played a year with the Chicago Blitz in the USFL, which is what brought him to his future wife, Sharon, and to all of us.

A lifelong educator, Kevin made a significant impact over his distinguished career. He served as a respected teacher and coach at St. Patrick's High School for 15 years, and later as an assistant principal and principal with the Elmwood Park School District for 18 years. He touched the lives of countless students and faculty, earning their affection through his genuine care and commitment. Kevin had a remarkable ability to make each student feel valued and encouraged. His signature motto, "Make it a great day, or not, the choice is yours," was more than just words — it was a reflection of his belief in empowering others.

In 2021, Kevin retired to pursue his lifelong dream of traveling the world with his wife, Sharon. The two explored Central and South America, savoring new experiences, indulging in delicious cuisines, and achieving the perfect sun tans. Though they ended too soon, his retirement years were filled with love and adventure.

Kevin was a truly unique presence whose kindness and vibrant energy were infectious. His sense of humor was unmatched, he told the best stories, and he could sing and dance like no other. His deep love for his family and unwavering devotion to his wife, Sharon, were evident in everything he did. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends, who will forever cherish the memories and moments shared with him.
