Julia Mercedes Martinez of Franklin Park, IL was a devoted & loving wife, mother, grandmother, Sister & aunt. She went home to the Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022 after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband and sister-in-law.
She was born September 10th in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, the daughter of Julio Guillen and Raymunda Guillen. She was 1 of 6 siblings.
She completed her Bachelor's degree at Lee College in Tennessee with a degree in International relations & translation and was the first bilingual Latina Coordinator at Rotary International in Evanston, IL. She later found her passion in real estate in the Chicagoland area & remained in the industry for over 35 years.
Julia loved her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ & God's word with all of her heart & sought to serve & honor him in many ways. Though she was a humble woman, Julia nonetheless was a powerful intercessor, prayer warrior & kingdom shaker. She was a women's group leader, Sunday school teacher & loved singing & preaching the word of God.
Only heaven knows what a wonderful & eternal impact all her many years of faithfulness have had to her family, friends & all those who she shared the gospel with and guided to the Lord. She leaves a legacy that will multiply & grow.
She is survived by her husband Lauro Martinez, Son Albert Flores (Leslie), Daughter Julie Garza (Miguel), Son David Flores (Claudia) grandchildren: Amanda, Kylie, Jude, Josiah, Nicolas, Sisters Luisa Mejia, Bianca Winters, Brother Raul Guillen, many nieces & nephews and extended family.
