Jose Luis Beltran Ortiz, 75, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Jose carried the spirit of his island home with him throughout his life. He was the beloved husband of Sofia, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories.
A man who took great pride in his home and family, Jose found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time in his garden, carefully tending to both vegetables and flowers, and was happiest when watching the fruits of his labor grow. He enjoyed playing dominoes with family and friends, where his competitive spirit and lively personality always shined through.
Lovingly known as a loud countryman, Jose never hesitated to make his presence known. His warm heart, strong opinions, and unmistakable voice brought energy and laughter wherever he went. He took exceptional pride in maintaining a beautiful home and was always willing to lend a hand when something needed fixing or improving.
Jose was also a gifted cook who delighted in preparing meals for those he loved. If you were fortunate enough to sit at his table, you knew you were in for a special treat. Whether hosting family gatherings or attending celebrations, Jose enjoyed dressing his best, often topping off his outfit with one of his many stylish hats and elegant pieces of jewelry. His sense of style reflected his vibrant personality and confidence.
Jose will be remembered for his hard work, generosity, sense of pride, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the countless memories shared by those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sofia, along with family and friends who will miss him dearly and carry his memory in their hearts forever.
Visitation, Friday, June 19, 10:00 a.m., until the time of the Funeral Service, 1:00 p.m., Elms Funeral Home, 7600 W. Grand Ave. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove.

José Luis Beltrán Ortiz, de 75 años, residente de Chicago, falleció pacíficamente el 9 de junio de 2026, rodeado del amor de su familia.
Nacido en Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, José llevó consigo el espíritu de su tierra natal durante toda su vida. Fue el amado esposo de Sofía, con quien compartió una vida llena de amor, dedicación y recuerdos inolvidables.
José era un hombre que sentía un gran orgullo por su hogar y su familia. Disfrutaba de los placeres sencillos de la vida, especialmente de trabajar en su jardín, donde cultivaba tanto vegetales como flores. Nada le brindaba mayor satisfacción que ver crecer el fruto de su esfuerzo. También le encantaba jugar dominó con familiares y amigos, momentos en los que siempre destacaban su espíritu competitivo y su alegre personalidad.
Con cariño, muchos lo describían como un hombre de campo de voz fuerte y presencia inconfundible. Su corazón generoso, sus opiniones sinceras y su forma tan particular de expresarse llenaban de energía y alegría cualquier lugar al que llegaba. Sentía un profundo orgullo por mantener su hogar en excelentes condiciones y siempre estaba dispuesto a trabajar para mejorarlo o ayudar a quien lo necesitara.
José también era un excelente cocinero que disfrutaba preparando deliciosas comidas para sus seres queridos. Quienes tuvieron la oportunidad de sentarse a su mesa sabían que les esperaba un verdadero banquete. Ya fuera recibiendo invitados o asistiendo a una celebración, le gustaba vestir con elegancia, luciendo con orgullo su colección de sombreros finos y joyas distinguidas. Su estilo reflejaba perfectamente su personalidad vibrante y segura de sí misma.
José será recordado por su dedicación, generosidad, orgullo por su familia y su hogar, y por el amor que compartió con todos aquellos que tuvieron la fortuna de conocerlo. Su legado vivirá para siempre en los recuerdos y en el corazón de quienes lo amaron.
Le sobrevive su amada esposa, Sofía, así como familiares y amigos que lo extrañarán profundamente y conservarán su memoria con cariño para siempre.
Velatorio: viernes 19 de junio, desde las 10:00 a. m. hasta la hora del servicio funerario (1:00 p. m.), en Elms Funeral Home, 7600 W. Grand Ave. El sepelio tendrá lugar a continuación en el cementerio Elmwood, en River Grove.
