Jack Alan Schneider of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Generations of Elmwood Park in Elmwood Park, Illinois, where he was on life support since mid-July 2020, after a heart attack and stroke that he suffered at home in Edwardsville. He was 62 years old.
Jack, beloved son of the late Jack and Mary Lou Schneider of Edwardsville, cherished brother of Jill Schneider (Robert Barker) of Pennsylvania, entertaining uncle of Daniel and William Barker (Dorothy Bauch) and their son Maxwell Barker of New York, and dear cousin of Michael and Patrick Hair of Arizona.
Jack was born September 6, 1958 in Edwardsville, lived in Satellite Beach, Florida from 1959-1973, and then returned to Illinois to attend Edwardsville High School (1973-1977). Until his illness, he worked for the last several years on the early shift at the YMCA in Edwardsville. Despite many difficult medical challenges, Jack was always "an encouraging presence" with a "big smile and sharp sense of humor" that was "always a blessing," and in those first hours of the morning at the Y, he "brought light and humor to so many people".
A funeral and interment will take place at Sunset Hills in Edwardsville, Illinois at a later date (to be announced on Jack Alan Schneider's CaringBridge and The Elms Funeral Home website).
