Francisco "Paco" Ocasio Rios
October 4, 1935 – October 26, 2022

Francisco "Paco" Ocasio Rios was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and
friend. Surrounded by his family, Paco was peacefully called to be with the Lord on the 26 th of
October at the age of 87.

As a young man, he worked as a cook in a hotel in San Juan, where he met Genoveva ("Geno,"
as he called her). He loved to tell the story of how the first time he saw her, he declared that she
would be his wife, and so it was. They went on to spend the next 60 years together building a
family and legacy of love and togetherness that will live on. Paco and Geno raised five children:
Margarita (George), Frank (Lupe), Edwin (Maria), Javier (Wanda), and Madeline (Rudy), along
with their oldest granddaughter, Ana Rosario (Daryl). Their children, 20 grandchildren, and 45
great-grandchildren (plus two more on the way) will always remember the fond memories they
shared with Papa and will forever keep his memory in their hearts.

Paco was a humble and hard-working man, who loved spending time with his family. Nothing
brought him more joy than roasting a lechon in the backyard for hours on end while enjoying a
cold beer with family and friends. He seized every opportunity to get together and be
surrounded by his children and grandchildren laughing and dancing. Throughout his last days
he kept his sense of humor and would laugh and smile whenever he saw or heard any of his kids
or grandkids. No matter how late it got, he would always say, "It's so early, why are you
leaving?" He especially enjoyed celebrating during birthdays and holidays, when he would enjoy
playing the guitar along with the Trullas Navideñas.

His warm welcome and laughter will be remembered fondly by all of those who had the pleasure
of knowing him.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 12:00 pm
St. Gertrude Catholic Parish, 9613 Schiller Blvd, Franklin Park, IL 60131
