Francisco Jorge Luzuriaga Rodriquez, age 80, passed away on May 22, 2026.

Francisco was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to his beloved parents, Pedro Olmedo Luzuriaga Moyano and Laura Enriquerta Rodriquez Abab, who preceded him in death. He spent his early years in Guayaquil before coming to the United States to build a better life. He often shared a special memory of watching a movie about Chicago and being inspired by the sight of the Sears Tower, which sparked his dream of one day coming to the city. Through determination and perseverance, he made that dream a reality—learning the English language, attending college, and ultimately achieving the goal of owning his own business prior to meeting his beloved wife.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Roberta O. Luzuriaga, who passed away in 2021. Together, they built a life centered on hard work and partnership, eventually working side by side as taxi drivers and later becoming proud owners of their own taxi business.

Francisco was a devoted father who, even if he did not always openly express affection, showed his love in countless meaningful ways. He consistently guided his children with wisdom and care, always emphasizing the importance of education as the key to success in life. He was a steady presence, helping his children navigate life’s challenges and celebrating their successes with quiet pride.

He was preceded in death by two of his children: Magaly Luzuriaga Bravo, who passed at the age of 2, and Fredy Jorge Luzuriaga, who passed at the age of 42.

He is survived by his loving children: Laura O. Polidario, Frank P. Luzuriaga, George R. Luzuriaga, and Jennifer M. Jennings, as well as 12 cherished grandchildren who brought him great pride and joy.

Francisco came from a large and close family. He is survived by his siblings: Luis Eleuterio Luzuriaga Rodriquez (79), Cesar Vidal Luzuriaga Rodriquez (77), Vicente Pastor Luzuriaga Rodriquez (73), Jose Lorenzo Luzuriaga Pizarro (71), Ligia Juana Luzuriaga Pizarro (70), Carlos Olmedo Luzuriaga Toledo (63), Gloria Cecilia Ceron Rodriquez (69), and Yolanda Lucia Ceron Rodriquez (63). He was preceded in death by his brother, Justo Pedro Luzuriaga Rodriquez, who passed at the age of 76.

Francisco’s lessons, stories, and quiet strength will be held in the hearts of everyone who was fortunate enough to know him and learn from him. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, especially his children and grandchildren, who will forever carry his values of perseverance, responsibility, and love.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Francisco nació en Guayaquil, Ecuador, hijo de sus queridos padres, Pedro Olmedo Luzuriaga Moyano y Laura Enriquerta Rodriquez Abab, quienes le precedieron en la muerte. Pasó sus primeros años en Guayaquil antes de emigrar a los Estados Unidos en busca de una vida mejor. Solía compartir una historia muy especial: después de ver una película sobre Chicago y el edificio Sears Tower, nació en él el sueño de algún día llegar a esa ciudad. Con determinación y perseverancia, logró hacerlo realidad aprendiendo el idioma inglés, asistiendo a la universidad y, finalmente, alcanzando su meta de tener su propio negocio antes de conocer a su amada esposa.

Fue precedido en la muerte por su querida esposa, Roberta O. Luzuriaga, quien falleció en el año 2021. Juntos construyeron una vida basada en el trabajo arduo y la unión, trabajando lado a lado como taxistas hasta convertirse en orgullosos dueños de su propio negocio de taxi.

Francisco fue un padre dedicado que, aunque no siempre expresaba su afecto con palabras, demostraba su amor de muchas maneras significativas. Siempre guió a sus hijos con sabiduría y cuidado, enfatizando la importancia de la educación como clave para el éxito en la vida. Fue una presencia constante, ayudando a sus hijos a enfrentar los desafíos de la vida y celebrando sus logros con orgullo silencioso.

Fue precedido en la muerte por dos de sus hijos: Magaly Luzuriaga Bravo, quien falleció a los 2 años, y Fredy Jorge Luzuriaga, quien falleció a los 42 años.

Francisco provenía de una familia numerosa y unida.
