Ethan Nathaniel Mendez, 24, unexceptionally passed away far too soon on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Born on June 2, 2001, Ethan brought warmth, laughter, and light into every room he entered.

He was the beloved son of Emilio Mendez (Maribel Lucena) and Christina (Eric) Rivera, and a devoted brother to Mercedez, Tatiana, Isaiah, and Eliel. Ethan was a cherished grandson, nephew, uncle, and loyal friend to many. He loved his family deeply and could not wait to become an uncle with both Mercedez expecting a baby boy and Tatiana joyfully awaiting the arrival of her little one.

Ethan had a passion for life and a love for the things that made him feel alive. He could often be found working on cars, gaming with friends, or spending time at the gym. His easygoing nature, sharp sense of humor, and generous heart drew people to him wherever he went. Ethan and his girlfriend Aylin Celeste Flores shared a special love for each other throughout their relationship as they shared their last moments together that night.

Ethan shared a close bond with both his parents, especially his dad— he never missed a chance to text or say, "Love you, Pops," whenever they saw each other. He adored his mother immensely and would call her "Mommy" and she would call Ethan "My Silly Bird" as they also shared a close bond. These small words now carry deep meaning for his family and will be remembered always.

Though his time here was heartbreakingly short, Ethan's love and spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. His memory will forever be a reminder of kindness, laughter, and unconditional love.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., The Elms Funeral Home, 7600 W. Grand Ave., Elmwood Park, IL 60707. Interment will be private.
