IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward “Eddie”
W. Mizejewski
June 28, 1951 – August 11, 2025
Lifelong resident of Elmwood Park, Edward "Eddie" Mizejewski passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2025.
Beloved husband of Kathleen (née Gruber), Eddie was the cherished brother of Patricia (Robert) Dedic, Gerry (Roy) LeGear, Mary (Gary) Kouba, and Robert (Ethel) Mizejewski. He was a proud Godfather to Janey Gagliardi, Matthew (Jessica) Kouba, and Kelly (Mark) Aiello; a fun-loving uncle to many nieces and nephews; and a dear friend to countless others.
Eddie had a special place in his heart for summers spent at the family's lake house on Long Lake, in Wisconsin, where laughter, stories, and the trips out on the pontoon boat made cherished memories. A talented welder and fabricator, he turned metal into works of art and decorations that brightened his home and the lives of those around him. Never one to hire out what he could do himself, Eddie took pride in being the family's go-to "DIY contractor," tackling projects and upgrades with skill, creativity, and determination. Whether building something new or perfecting what was already there, his hands were always busy and his mind full of ideas.
After a hard day's work, Eddie enjoyed relaxing with a well-made cocktail and sharing good conversation with a close-knit circle of friends at his favorite bar. Those evenings—filled with laughter, storytelling, bouncing ideas off of others with his latest recipes and cheering on the Chicago Bears—were among his greatest joys. At home, the Cooking Channel was often on, inspiring Eddie to try new recipes and experiment in the kitchen. He loved creating flavorful dishes and surprising family and friends with his latest food creations.
Eddie and Kathy shared 52 years of marriage built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. In his later years, Kathy cared for him with tireless dedication, ensuring he was comfortable and cherished every day. Eddie never went more than a few hours without telling her how much he loved her—a sentiment he meant with all his heart. Their bond was a true testament to commitment and enduring love.
Eddie will be remembered for his warmth, humor, ingenuity, and the way he poured his love into both people and projects. His presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
