Donald La Puma

September 3, 1952 — May 19, 2026

Elmwood Park & Indian Head Park

Donald La Puma, 73, formerly of Elmwood Park and more recently of Indian Head Park, is now finally at peace after a long and difficult battle with dementia.

Donald was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Margaret (née Luce) La Puma; cherished father of Donald Jr., the late John, and Janel Marie; proud grandpa to Daniel, Nicholas, Alyssa, Justin, Joey, Ashlyn, and Brookelynn; and adoring great-grandfather to eleven.

Donald spent most of his life working as a butcher, a trade he began learning as an apprentice at National T grocery store. He dedicated many years to his work and was known for jokingly using “having to work” as his excuse to get out of anything he didn’t feel like doing.

He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and had a way of bringing energy and conversation wherever he went. His presence often became the social spark in the room, and those who knew him will remember his personality, humor, and ability to make ordinary moments memorable.

Above all else, Donald valued his family deeply. Through life’s hardships and challenges, they remained the center of his world and the greatest source of pride and love in his life.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 22, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., The Elms Funeral Home, 7600 W. Grand Ave. Elmwood Park IL, 60707. Interment to be held privately.
