Alfredo Camacho, 86, passed away on Thursday, May 28, due to Covid-19 related pneumonia.  Loving husband of Marie (nee Alcala).  Cherished father of Norma, Jose, Rafael (Elena), Lilia, Dorina, Ricardo, Rosa, David (Florence), Rosemarie (Shigeru), Adrian (Alicia), Evaleen (Noel), Jennifer (Arthur) and the late Alfredo Jr.  Dear sibling of 6 brothers and 1 sister.  Proud grandfather and uncle of many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Alfredo was born in Mexico, emigrated to the United States via California in the 1950's, raised his children in New York, and retired to Chicago in the early 2000's.

He was a hard-working man with a booming voice, great style, and magnetic charisma. The embodiment of Mi Casa, Su Casa , he openly welcomed everyone into his home, always.

He was abundantly proud of both his Mexican heritage and of being a naturalized U.S. citizen, as could be seen by the incredible display of both American and Mexican flags throughout his home.  An avid gardener, he spent his free time outside in his backyard, making sure his flowers, vegetables, and grass were getting the attention they needed.

Above all else, he loved his family.  Accomplishments of his children were on display on every flat surface in his home. His hugs and kisses were legendary. In his later years, his children were granted the gift of watching him with their babies and toddlers.  He could often be found on the ground with his grandchildren, in the dirt and the sand playing and laughing with them.

Private Services will be held at the Elms Funeral Home in Elmwood Park, IL, on Thursday, June 4 at 9am and will be available on live stream for those that cannot make the journey.  Funeral services will begin at 11am at the funeral home, with interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL,  immediately following.  A memorial service organized by his children will be held at a future date.
